The POA Mineral Wagons were created in the late-1980s by building new bodies onto the chassis of redundant tank wagons in order to move aggregates. Owned by Tiger Rail, the wagons were leased to ARC and Foster Yeoman but within a few years, larger bogie wagons were being introduced and the POAs were gradually displaced onto a variety of traffic including scrap metal and coal. Later the wagons were purchased by British Rail and most ended up in engineering use.
The Bachmann Branchline model employs a precision bodyshell with panel lines and ribs moulded both inside and out. Individual ladders are fitted to the body and chassis on each side. The chassis features separate brake shoes, brake handles, linkage and auxiliary gear, meanwhile the bufferbeam is completed with metal buffer heads, a coupling hook and lamp iron. Like all Branchline models, metal wheelsets are fitted as standard to ensure smooth running, and NEM coupling pockets make it easy to fit an alternative coupling system where required.
