The 27 Ton Steel Tippler Wagons were built by British Railways to convey bulk materials like ore, chalk and sand, and having no doors, they were originally unloaded by means of a rotary tippler. As traffic requirements changed and new, larger wagons were introduced, many wagons were made redundant, but some found a second life moving heavy ingot moulds around metal works and between different sites. Reflecting their new role, the wagons were given a yellow band around the top and were lettered INGOTMOULD on each side. Boasting features like metal buffer heads, separate brake gear, NEM couplings and blackened metal wheelsets, all you need to add to this Bachmann Branchline model is your own mould or two!
