In January 2024 Nissan factory driver Tsugio Matsuda (born 1979) set a lap time of 59.078 seconds at the Tsukuba proving grounds in a 2024 Nissan GT-R NISMO (NISsan MOtorsports), breaking his own previous production car record. The following month fellow racing driver Akira Iida lapped the circuit in 58.820 seconds, also in a 2024 Nissan GT-R NISMO.
