French Light Cruiser Marseillaise 1937-42.

French light cruiser of the La Galissonnière class. Built by Ateliers & Chantiers de la Loire in Nantes, France, launched on 23rd October 1933, commissioned into the French Navy on 10th October 1935. MARSEILLAISE was armed with a main battery of eight 152mm (6in) guns in four twin turrets, with a secondary battery of four 100mm (3.9in) guns, two 40mm (1.6in) guns and two 20mm (0.79in) guns. Capable of a top speed of 34 knots (63km/h; 39mph). MARSEILLAISE saw service during the Second World War. Initially assigned to the Mediterranean Fleet and transferred to the Atlantic Fleet in 1940. Scuttled by Vichy France in Toulon on 27th November 1942 to prevent the vessel falling into German hands. The ship was raised in 1943 and scrapped in 1945.
