Royal Navy Fairey Fulmar Mk II, WWII c.1942.
British carrier-borne fighter aircraft used by the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm during World War II. It was an improved version of the original Fulmar Mk I, featuring a more powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin 30 engine, better armament, and minor aerodynamic refinements. Although not as fast or manoeuvrable as land-based fighters, it had good range and was effective in fleet defence and escort duties. The Fulmar served primarily in the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean before being replaced by more advanced aircraft such as the Supermarine Seafire.
