Erwin Rommel (1891-1944) – German field marshal nicknamed “Desert Fox” who led Axis forces in North Africa during World War II. Known for his command of the Afrika Korps, he developed a reputation for mobile warfare and tactical effectiveness. In 1944, Rommel was implicated in a plot to assassinate Hitler and took his own life after pressure from the Nazi regime. Rommel remains one of the most studied and iconic military figures of the 20th century.
