The steel industry has long depended on rail to transport its products around the UK and in the late 1990s EWS had a number of new wagons built by Thrall in York to carry steel rod coil. Assigned the TOPS code BRA, the wagons feature a strong underframe with four loading racks, and a three-piece telescopic hood was fitted to protect the load from the elements.
The Graham Farish model is a faithful replica of these distinctive wagons, accurately replicating the corrugated hooded body and heavy duty underframes using precision moulded components. Separate details are then added including the hood locking mechanisms at either end, the solebar steps and the handbrake wheels. Each bogie is fitted with metal wheels and axles whilst the integrated NEM coupling pockets allow alternative couplings to be fitted with ease. The characteristic maroon livery of EWS is replicated with a rich and authentic finish, topped with the various markings and operating instructions that are found on the real wagons.
