Branchline OO Scale Diesel & Electric Locomotives
Main line steam-hauled services may have finished in 1968, but the use of electric and diesel traction started many decades earlier. Third-rail electric services commenced running into Waterloo station before WW1 and main line diesel power made its first appearance in 1947, whilst the first overhead electric main line services were a relatively recent introduction in 1955. The Bachmann Branchline range covers all these types of motive power, offering an unrivalled selection of award-winning locomotives to grace your layout.
One of the iconic pioneers of diesel traction on Britain’s main lines, were the pair of ex-LMS “Twins” 10000 and 10001. We’re pleased to introduce a new livery for 10001 featuring the British Railways early emblem on the body-sides as it carried during its service on the Southern Region. Our uncompromising attention to detail identified that additional tooling modifications were necessary to ensure the condition of 10001 during this period is faithfully reproduced, so this release will be a “must-have” for all collectors.
As part of British Railway’s 1955 Modernisation Plan, the Class 24 diesel locomotive was to be a key part of the progression to main-line diesel traction. As part of our continuing commitment to maintaining our position as market leaders, our upgrade of this pioneer class will also encompass the Class 25 that was a direct development from the Class 24. A completely new set of body and chassis toolings, incorporating the latest DCC developments and a multitude of detail variations will provide us with what is sure to be an unequalled rendition of these popular classes.
With the imminent release of our completely re-tooled Class 158 DMU, it gives us the opportunity to announce the inclusion of the Class 159 as part of the 2018 new releases. The development of our new Class 158 and 159 has also given us the opportunity to utilise key elements of the new design in our Class 168 and 170 DMU’s. The ScotRail, Cross Country, Chiltern Railways and the Southern’s green and white livery illustrates the nationwide coverage of these units.
