Sanda Kan purchased by Kader Holdings

Hong Kong based toy and model manufacturer Kader Holdings Company Limited are in the process of completing their pending acquisition of Sanda Kan, the Chinese model manufacturer for US $8.5m. Sanda Kan specialises in the manufacturer of model railway and slot car products. Kader Holdings is also the parent company of Bachmann Europe Plc.

Kader are already the biggest manufacturer by volume of model railway products in the World. Graham Hubbard, Managing Director of Bachmann Europe Plc said today the acquisition of the Sanda Kan Company is a very natural step for Kader, as there are synergies from this exercise which would benefit both companies .

Sanda Kan first came to prominence in the UK when it began manufacturing a range of electric trains for the former Airfix Company. Like Kader, Sanda Kan has developed into a global supplier of high quality model trains and slot car systems and supplies many well-known brand names owned by its customers around the World.

Mr Hubbard concluded by saying that Kader is already working closely with the management and customers of Sanda Kan and has reassured them that Kader will continue to build on the success of the Sanda Kan Company in the years to come.

Notes for Editors

Kader Holdings was formed in 1948 by Ting Hsiung-chao in Hong Kong and rapidly developed as a leading toy manufacturer. In 1952 it began making electrically propelled HO toy trains for the American company Bachmann, which Kader eventually purchased in 1984. During the 1970s the company transformed its toy trains into fully-fledged detailed scale models much sought after by collectors around the World. It was during this time that Kader began supplying British outline trains for the British domestic market. Today its model railway division produces trains for customers in many parts of the World and with the setting up of Bachmann Europe in 1989, has developed its own markets in Britain and Europe by acquiring well known brand names such as Graham Farish and Liliput.
